Nightmare Inside a Dream

Imagine a place where the sky is red. The air is filled with thick smog and unpredictable fires can spring up at any moment. People with nowhere to live make tent cities where ever they can find space. At night you never know if the lights will be on so you keep candles on hand just in case. Water is rationed in the smaller communities and towns and can be limited without warning while the elites waste water for entertainment. Does this sound like a place you want to pick up and move to? I didn’t think so, let’s talk about California.

The "Well, Maybe" Technique

Life has a way of giving us lemons. The hardships stresses and pain can leave the sour taste of citrus in our mouths for days, months, or even years. But it’s important when fate gives us sour grapes from the grapevine, to make wine. Now it’s very easy to say this when things are going well, but when times are tough it’s hard to stay grounded. For that reason, I want to tell you a story about a technique that you can carry with you in times of stress, doubt, and uncertainty. It's a technique I use for football, for investing, and life. It's called The "Well, Maybe" Technique.

Is Becoming a Parent Kryptonite For Creativity?

I come at the topic of creativity from the perspective of a doer rather than an academic or a researcher. I've had two girls in the last two years while coaching college football, raising money for student scholarships, making music, writing a book, and even picking up how to build voice apps and virtual worlds. Grandmother Wisdom

I’ve spent the last few days building a book that I’ll be launching soon. I want to keep building on this process because it feels so timely. Many of our grandparents lived through the best of times, and the worst. We are currently living through one of the most pivotal times in history. To get through it I’d rather rely on the wisdom, tact, and common sense of our elders than the Johnny Come Lately "experts" that got us into this mess.

Food For Thought

The world is a pretty wild place right now. A lot of our lives have been turned upside down by the current crisis and the future uncertainty we face feels daunting, but you don't need to view this uncertainty as a negative.
